Manchester United join the race to sign Italian midfield controller: The best they can get?

Transfer story

Recent reports have confirmed that Premier League giants Manchester United have now joined the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, as Jose Mourinho looks to add more options to his current squad before the start of the new season. The Italy international, who was earlier wanted by La Liga outfit Barcelona, is now a target for the Red Devils as well.

It was confirmed some time ago that the 24-year-old superstar was not shy of leaving the French capital and if that does indeed happen, the former Ligue 1 Champions will look to cash in on him.

Earlier, it was just Barca, who were in the hunt to bring him to the Nou Camp this summer, as they looked to reinforce their midfield.

However, it has now been stated that the situation has changed and Manchester United have joined the race as well, which could lead to an intense battle between the two European giants.

It is believed that the club’s scout Jose Mayorga was leading the talks to bring Verratti to Old Trafford and the Portuguese manager is a huge fan of the star and his style of play.

The addition of a quality star like the PSG man could be a huge boost for any side and if he signs for United, it will really make their midfield one of the best in the world.

What will Marco Verratti offer Manchester United?

In nearly 50 appearances for his club and country last term, he scored thrice, with 7 assists to his name. The player still has a long way to go, in terms of his playing career. In 134 matches for the French club, he has managed to score five times, since joining them back in 2012, though his presence in front of the defence and his distribution make him an asset to any side.

His passing is really good and he can control the flow of the game. Though he lacks the discipline at times and is not that great when going in for aerial balls, he can still make up for it with his ability on the pitch.

With Michael Carrick at the twilight of his career, Verratti would be a world class long-term addition to the team.

Deal or no deal?

There is no doubt that any club would want to sign Verratti, as he can really strengthen their midfield. Keeping that in mind, Mourinho is also looking to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams and hopefully, he can perform for them in the top flight of English football, like he has been doing for the other teams that he has been representing.

Woah! Im really enjoying the view of this blog
