Tottenham Hotspur Favourites To Sign This English Midfield Sensation: A Huge Star In The Making?

Transfer story

Along with signing some big world class names, top clubs in England are always looking for exciting young talents that have emerged through the lower leagues.

Tottenham Hotspur have an academy system which has yielded positive results for them and since his arrival, Mauricio Pochettino has worked hard to try and lure talented youngsters to play for the academy.

Recent reports have suggested that Spurs have targeted Bolton Wanderers’ 16-year-old midfield sensation, Max Broughton who has done brilliantly well for the club’s U-18 side.

Broughton is being linked with a move after emerging on the scene this season for the U-18s. Manchester United and Everton are also interested in the youngster who is all set to garner huge profits for the Championship side.

The fee for Broughton is not mentioned in any national newspaper but the Lancashire side will try and sell him only to the highest bidder as Spurs must work smartly and quickly to secure his future with the Lilywhites.

Who is he?

A scout from Bolton watched Broughton in action for Rossendale United in 2014. He was then asked to come for a trial in October of that year and joined Bolton soon.

He impressed the coaching staff with his supreme abilities and soon earned a scholarship with the club in 2015.

What he’ll offer to the club?

The Trotters are back in the Championship in the first attempt as their manager Phil Parkinson was looking to use Broughton in the first team squad next season.

But that is not going to be the case as the big sharks of the Premier League have started circling around their prey. The 16-year-old is a commanding central midfielder who plays at a more mature level than his age suggests and has a good understanding of the game.

He can be used as a box to box midfielder or as a holding one and looks like a proper English midfielder of the ilk of Steven Gerrard or Paul Scholes.

This transfer looks reminiscent of the transfer of Dele Alli who came to Tottenham from the third tier club – MK Dons. Tottenham will use Broughton for the U-18s and then slowly ingrain him into the next age groups.

He can be a perfect addition to the Spurs youth setup and can prove to be a future England star.

Mauricio Pochettino has shown a real knack of unearthing gems and there is a high chance that he in on the brink of securing the signature of another.
