Tottenham Hotspur linked with Real Madrid striker: A smashing move from Pochettino?

The report also suggests that the youngster would be keen on joining Tottenham and work under Mauricio Pochettino. Real Betis, Atletico Madrid, Malaga and Lazio all are said to be vying for his signature.

Mariano Diaz’s game time has been limited at Real Madrid and the 23-year-old hasn’t seen much first team action as he has fallen down the pecking order with several excellent players ahead of him.

Diaz could turn out to be an intriguing option for Tottenham, having scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 appearances despite his limited chances in the first team. He has mainly been used in cup competitions by Zinedine Zidane.

The striker could perfectly fit the role of a backup striker for Tottenham as Daniel Levy is not known to loosen his wallet. In addition, Tottenham must also be cautious with their spending with a new stadium under construction. This suggests that perhaps the centre-forward could represent the perfect option for Spurs with him being available for around $15million according to Marca.

Mariano is a really talented player who could excel if he moves elsewhere. His ability on the ball means the defenders won’t find it easy while dealing with him.
