Liverpool want this £10m-rated striker: Stats, style of play and what he’ll offer the club

Transfer story

On a day where Liverpool were given a huge update in their pursuit of Virgil van Dijk, there is one rumour that might surprise everyone concerned with the club. This is how the transfer period works – there are some sensible rumours at times while some just don’t make sense.

One such rumour which absolutely doesn’t make sense has emerged which links an unknown striker in these parts of the world with a move to Anfield in the coming weeks. Lukasz Teodorczyk of Anderlecht is being rumoured to be close to agreeing on a move to Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool this summer.

The striker has been Anderlecht’s best player this season with the 26-year old being reportedly scouted by the Reds on numerous occasions for the past season. He is valued at around £10 million by the Belgian club and is also on the radar of the other club on Merseyside, Everton. Sevilla were said to be close to striking a deal for the striker but their reluctance to pay £10 million for Teodorczyk has opened the way for the Reds.

Player stats

Standing at 6″2′, Teodorczyk is naturally good in the air and that reflects with his statistic of winning 2.5 aerial duels per 90 minutes. This was a breakthrough season for the Polish forward as he scored 20 goals in league games and a further 10 in Europa League and playoffs for the European spots. Overall, Teodorczyk scored 30 goals in 53 appearances for Anderlecht in the 2016/17 season. (Stats via whoscored)

What he’ll offer to the club?

Teodorczyk is on loan at Anderlecht from Dynamo Kiev with the Belgian club being keen on signing him on a permanent basis. But the player wants a move to the Premier League with the Merseyside clubs keen on him.

He is a striker who comes in the traditional bracket of forwards – good physique, good in the air, decent pace and most importantly, clinical in front of goal.

Worth the money?

Liverpool are set for a huge summer spree and a £10 million bid won’t be much of an issue. The money isn’t the issue in this deal, it is the usefulness of Teodorczyk for the Reds in their bid for a title challenge next season.

He is a talented individual who has the experience of playing in Europe and for his country but with money being available and a world class manager at the helm, Liverpool should aim for settled world class names instead of unknown quantities at the moment. Besides, they have already signed Dominic Solanke, haven’t they?
