Thorgan Hazard, the brother of Chelsea midfielder, Eden Hazard who had not so long ago moved to German club Borussia Monchengladbach from Chelsea, back in 2015, is now being linked with a sensational move to Goodison Park.
The ex-Chelsea man is tied to the German club till 2019 with Chelsea having the primary option to exercise a buy-back on the 24-year-old, but it seems that Ronald Koeman is apparently more interested in seeing him at Everton than Conte is at Chelsea.
With 2 years left on his present contract, the Belgian is valued around £16m. Although showing a glimpse of his talent and individual quality, he is still miles behind his brother Eden Hazard and has been more or less inconsistent at the Bundesliga club.
Nonetheless, with Dieter Hecking remaining sceptical of the youngster’s potential, Koeman is more than keen on making an investment on the 24-year-old to lure him to Everton.
Let’s look at the stats and analyse what would he bring to the Toffees.
The above points do show that the player has got quality in him to achieve the high standards set by his brother at Chelsea but sometimes his lack of concentration and unwillingness to fight for the lost ball has got him on the bench many times this season.
If Koeman is able to instil discipline and motivation in the 24-year-old, he might be able to extract the best out of the Belgian. Not a first for Koeman, he has already proved with the likes of Ross Barkley and James McCarthy that he can extract the best from his players.
With Thorgan, Koeman might get the added amount of creativity and fluidity that he would need in the midfield as the departure of Ross Barkley seems to be more and more imminent, with the midfielder refusing to sign a new contract.
Being only 24 years old, the Belgian would be a good replacement for the Englishman.
Valued at £16m, it would be a sensible investment for Koeman. With the recent situation at Goodison pointing towards departure of many key figures, the signing of the Belgian would be a classic move.
The Dutchman who loves to play with creative attacking midfielders would love to have the youngster in his squad.
