The BAD And The WORST Everton Players Rated In Their 1-3 Loss Against Liverpool

Another visit to Anfield ended in despair for Everton as their long wait for a win over their eternal rivals in front of the Kop still remained unfulfilled. Everton last won at Anfield back in 1999 and will have to wait for another year to change that one-sided record. The Toffees were on the back foot since the first minute and didn’t deserve anything from the game. Here are the Everton player ratings in their meek loss against Liverpool.

Joel Robles (5/10): The Toffees custodian did not move for the three goals and shockingly reacted slowly for all the goals that went in. The first two were brilliantly taken but he could have done better for Origi’s goal.

Matthew Pennington (6/10): The local lad had a debut to remember as he got on the scoresheet in his first ever Derby appearance. He was nervous defensively as Coutinho gave him a hard time and he could not cope with the fleet-footed Brazilian.

Ashley Williams (5.5/10): The Welsh captain endured a tough night as he found it hard to match up with the pace of Liverpool’s attacks. He also got booked in the second half which made his evening worse.

Phil Jagielka (6.5/10): Was Everton’s best defender on the night as he calmed his teammates at times and proved to be a leader in the back line.

Mason Holgate (6.5/10): The youngster put in an industrious performance but he could not replicate Coleman’s defensive abilities. Though he came close to scoring with a long-range shot in the second half.

Idrissa Gueye (6/10): The defensive midfielder tried hard to stop Liverpool from running away with the game but lacked support from the other midfielders.

Tom Davies (5.5/10): The youngster had a derby to forget as he could not get hold of the game and was run ragged by the Reds’ forwards. He received an unnecessary booking which displayed his frustration in not getting an influence on the proceedings.

Leighton Baines (5.5/10): Had the same problem as the other Toffees defenders as he could not handle the pace of Liverpool attacks at times. He improved in the second half but it was not enough to ignite a comeback.

Ross Barkley (4/10): The Englishman was lucky to be on the field in the second half. He committed three fouls which were enough for him to receive the marching orders as his foul on Dejan Lovren was in itself worthy of a red card.

Romelu Lukaku (6/10): The Belgian was good in aerial duels but could not muster a shot on target against the Reds. Lukaku needs to prove himself in big games if he wants to warrant a move to one of the big clubs in Europe.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (6/10): A surprising selection ahead of Mirallas but he could not justify his selection in a match of this magnitude. He struggled to add anything important to Everton’s attacks and was largely anonymous.

Substitutions

Gareth Barry (7/10): He brought stability to Everton’s midfield which reiterated the fact that he should have started the game in the first place.

Enner Valencia (5/10): The former West Ham man made some incisive runs but was introduced too late to make much of a difference.
