Liverpool will be eager to keep their winning run going on when they face Bournemouth tonight at Anfield. It won’t be a walk in the park as the Cherries have already recorded a league win back in December over Liverpool when they beat Jürgen Klopp’s men 4-3 at the Vitality stadium. After a mid-season slump, Bournemouth are up and running in the league with them being unbeaten in their last four matches.
The Reds first team squad suffered yet another injury when Sadio Mane was substituted with a probable knock in the second half against Everton. The Senegalese winger is certain to miss Wednesday’s game which might prove to be a huge loss for Liverpool in the remainder of the season. On that note, here is the predicted Liverpool lineup for their league match against Bournemouth.
Simon Mignolet had hardly anything to do in the match against Everton as the goal was a case of smash and grab on the part of Everton and the Belgian could not do anything for the goal conceded. He will keep his place in the side ahead of Loris Karius.
The Liverpool back four handled Everton’s attacks really well and the central defenders excelled in their matchup against Romelu Lukaku. Hence for the game against Eddie Howe’s men, the Reds are expected to name an unchanged defensive lineup.
Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren will take up the central defenders role while Nathaniel Clyne will be deployed as a right back. James Milner will continue his brilliant run of form from the left back position with Ragnar Klavan, Alberto Moreno and Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to be on the bench as defensive cover.
Lucas Leiva played a crucial role in Liverpool’s derby win and will play in his favoured defensive midfield position in the absence of Jordan Henderson who is set to miss two more weeks of action with a foot injury. Georginio Wijnaldum will keep his place in the starting lineup as he has been one of the Reds’ most consistent players this season.
After a slump in his form, Emre Can has done well in Adam Lallana’s absence and will look to dominate the midfield battle against Bournemouth.
Philippe Coutinho was instrumental on Saturday as he scored one and set up another. The Brazilian is back among the goals and will look to torment a Bournemouth defence which has kept back to back clean sheets for the first time this season. Roberto Firmino will play on the right, though the three attackers will have to play a free roaming role to get the better off Bournemouth’s defence.
Divock Origi is in line for a starting berth after netting the third goal against Everton. He will replace Sadio Mane in the starting eleven and will play as a sole striker. Ben Woodburn and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be on the bench.
