Sunderland’s Worst Ever Start In The Premier League Mocked Hilariously After The Defeat To Arsenal

Sunderland’s horrendous run in the League continues as they were outclassed by a good Arsenal side at the Stadium of light a few moments ago. The Black Cats did show a bit of resoluteness in the second half as they came back courtesy of a Jermaine Defoe goal but they couldn’t keep up and capitulated in the last 25 minutes as Arsenal ran riot and scored three to comfortably win the game.

Having picked up just two points in the league, Moyes was under intense pressure and let’s be honest, it was never going to change against Arsenal who have been in brilliant form of late.

Arsenal were always the favourites following their recent run and the spirits were pretty low at Wearside considering how the club was dumped out of the EFL Cup in midweek, the competition where Sunderland had managed their only victories of the season.

Arsenal started well and Pickford was nearly given a lesson on how well the Gunners press as Sanchez almost closed down the young goalie.

Arsenal’s savior in the second half turned out to be Olivier Giroud as the Frenchman came off the bench to score a brace that took the steam out of the Sunderland team. Alexis Sanchez scored the fourth and the goal pretty much summed up how awful Sunderland have been defensively all season.

With the defeat, Sunderland now have the misfortune of being the club with the worst start ever in the Premier League. The feat was previously held by Manchester City, who had a goal difference of -12 at the time (Sunderland have eclipsed that with a goal difference of -13).

Things look bleak for the Black Cats at the moment and considering the quality of players they have at their disposal, it’s unlikely things will change anytime soon which puts Moyes’ future in doubt.

Most of the fans made their way out of the stadium as soon as Sanchez scored the fourth and it was all that surprising, to be honest considering how abject their team were in the second half. Twitter was merciless on Sunderland’s performance and the Geordies chipped in as they are flying high in the Championship right now and playing some scintillating football under Rafa Benitez.
