Bournemouth are reportedly in advanced talks with Bristol City over a move for Alex Scott, who is also on the radar of Wolves.

Both the Premier League sides have had bids for the midfielder knocked back by Bristol City, with Wolves seeing offers of £18million and £20million rejected. Wolves’ financial constraints has seen a move for the teenager stall, and the Cherries are now seemingly looking to pounce on the player.

According to The Telegraph, Bournemouth are set to pip Wolves to the £25million signing of Bristol City’s Alex Scott.

Scott, 19, is one of the hottest properties outside the Premier League after impressing for Bristol City over the last two seasons. Despite being only 19 years old, the England under-20 international has already racked up 91 appearances for the Robins, registering six goals and seven assists along the way. He was voted the Championship’s Young Player of the Year at the end of 2022-23.

A number of bids have been made by Premier League clubs for Scott but Bristol want to keep him, the report adds.

Alex Scott to Bournemouth—Good move?

Bournemouth have been busy making moves in the transfer window. They have brought in Romain Faivre, Ionut Radu, Justin Kluivert and Milos Kerkez while signing Hamed Junior Traore permanently from Sassuolo.

The Cherries have lost several crucial players from the last few seasons this summer, but no exit will hurt the club more than Jefferson Lerma, who left the Vitality Stadium upon the expiry of his contract and joined Crystal Palace as a free agent. Thus, it’s imperative new boss Andoni Iraola replaces Lerma in his midfield unit. In addition, Iraola’s side could do with an all-action midfielder who can contribute to both ends of the pitch.

Alex Scott, in that regard, would be an astute addition to Bournemouth. Capable of playing anywhere across the midfield, the teenager’s versatility coupled with his creativity would add a lot of value to the Cherries squad. He is a good passer of the ball, can create chances and shoot well from distance, as well as put in a good shift off the ball.

If Bournemouth see their £25million bid accepted for Scott, then it is a deal worth taking the risk on. Scott is yet to have any experience of Premier League football, but going by his matured performances in the Championship it will be fair to say he is too good to be playing in that division.

And if Bournemouth can get the best out of the Guernsey-born ace, then a £25million deal may well represent one of the bargains of the summer transfer window. Likely paired with Lewis Cook and Philip Billing, the sea coast club could have an exciting midfield trio.

However, it remains to be seen whether Bournemouth’s reported bid for the talented midfielder will be accepted by Bristol.
