Football can be said to be the most popular sport nowadays! You can see it everywhere – movies, games, best online casino UK. But what are the variations? How motorbike scuffles, mud dives and violent scuffles have become the ground rules for various types of amateur football.

Moorland football

In bog football, the playing area is an area filled with mud and silt that reaches up to the players’ waists. There are no stoppages in play, the penalty kicks are taken by hand and the players wear rubber boots instead of cleats. Legend has it that the game was invented by Finnish skier Esa Rompäinen, when he was strengthening his ankle on a bog during training. The athlete, having decided to combine business with pleasure, invented a new and entertaining sport. It’s no accident that bog sport was born in Finland. In Finnish, “Suomi” means – the land of swamps.

Futdableball

This sport appeared in Ukraine in 2007. The creators decided to bring new colours to the familiar rules, and simply threw in a second ball in the game. The game is played until the two shells are either in the goal net, or in the hands of the goalkeeper or in touch. This game is much more dynamic than traditional football, but it has its disadvantages as it is very difficult for the spectators to watch two balls and certainly not for the referees. There was even a miscommunication in the first leg and after some extensive arguments the match was abandoned with the score 15-8.

Beach football

This type of football was born in Brazil. As the game is played on the sand, the players play barefoot. The composition of the teams is the same as in mini football. The match consists of 3 periods of 12 minutes each. There are no draws in this sport. If the three periods end in a draw, an additional period of 3 minutes is played. If there is still no winner in this time, the match is followed by penalty kicks, three kicks first.

Florentine football (Calcio)

The game is considered the prototype of modern football and rugby. Each team has 27 players on the pitch. Most of the players on the field are forwards – there are 15 of them. Any kind of scoring method is possible. Fist-fighting and wrestling techniques are allowed. After a goal is scored the teams change goal. In summer the games were usually played on a sandy field of about 50×100 m. In winter, games were played on river ice.

Gaelic football

Ireland’s national sport. Teams of 15 play two 30-minute halves, with two more overtimes if there’s no winner. If neither of these matches results in a goal, the match is replayed. Goals are scored in two ways. You can score the ball (hand or foot, it doesn’t matter) directly into the goal. But you can also shoot it over the crossbar between the two extended bars. The first option gives 3 points, the second only one.

Australian football

The game is extremely popular on the continent, second only to grassroots football and rugby. The pitch in the game is oval, as is the ball. It can also be carried, but no more than 15 meters away. After this limit, you must either hit the ball on the ground or kick or pass. Each team has two goals, by the way. If the ball goes into a small goal, six points are awarded to the team that scored. If the ball is sent to the big goal, only one point is awarded. Each team has 18 players on the pitch.
