Yves Bissouma To Start: 3-5-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted XI vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they entertain Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

The Lilywhites are third in the Premier League table with 26 points from 13 games. They produced a fantastic comeback from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 away last time out before winning 2-1 at Marseille in the Champions League on Tuesday to win their group.

The wins over Bournemouth and Marseille should give Antonio Conte’s side a lot of confidence as they prepare to host Liverpool, who are ninth in the table and have lost three of their last five league games.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham suffered a big blow in midweek when Son Heung-min went off injured in the first half against Marseille. The South Korean star has subsequently undergone surgery on a fracture in his eye-socket, while Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison continue working their way back to full fitness.

Cristiano Romero (muscle) is a doubt for the weekend having missed the last three games.

Predicted Tottenham Lineup vs Liverpool (3-5-2)

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris will function in between the sticks for Spurs as he hopes to produce a strong performance at the weekend.

Defence

Antonio Conte may slightly tweak his 3-4-3 formation to a 3-5-2 on Sunday, with Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet and Davison Sanchez forming the 3-man backline in the Tottenham lineup.

Dier will be the leader of the pack, hoping to marshal his troops well against Liverpool.

If Cristian Romero attains full fitness, he could be available from the bench while Ben Davies is also a strong contender for a start.

Midfield

Spurs will aim to win the battles in midfield against Liverpool which could tempt Conte to bring in an extra presence in the engine room.

In the form of Yves Bissouma, Spurs should get a player capable of shielding the backline whilst spraying passes left, right and centre.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remain the nucleus of the side in midfield and should start against Liverpool in the Tottenham lineup.

Matt Doherty will hope to enjoy a productive night from the right wing-back position, whereas Ryan Sessegnon may get the nod over veteran Ivan Perisic on the other flank in the Tottenham lineup.

Emerson Royal is also an option on the right given his strong display in midweek.

Conte’s plan may revolve around exploiting spaces behind the Liverpool full-backs through wing-backs Doherty and Sessegnon.

Attack

With Son, Kulusevski and Richarlison ruled out, Conte has very limited options in attack at his disposal. He may use Lucas Moura with Harry Kane in a two-pronged attack in the Tottenham lineup, tasking his strikers to stretch the shaky Liverpool backline with their pace, movement and directness.

The onus will be on Kane to deliver the goods for Spurs, and having failed to score against Bournemouth last time out, the England international would be looking forward to getting his name on the scoresheet this time around.

Bryan Gil and Oliver Skipp will have to settle for a place on the bench again but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
