A Mason Mount-hat-trick inspired Chelsea crushed 10-man Norwich City 7-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League.

It took only eight minutes for Mount to open the scoring for the Blues and, from there, it was pure dominance from the home side. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James made it 3-0 before the two teams walked in the tunnel at half-time.

After the break, Ben Chilwell made it four before Mount completed his hat-trick. The afternoon turned from bad to worse for Norwich City when Ben Gibson got a second yellow card and a subsequent red after a crazy challenge on Reece James.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Norwich City

Edouard Mendy- 6/10

Mendy had a light day between the sticks, gathering two Norwich passes in the first half. He made a good save in the second half to deny Milot Rashica, thereby, keeping another clean sheet in the process.

Reece James- 9/10

Impressive defensively and enterprising as always going forward, James was a constant threat down the right for Norwich. Scored a beautiful dink goal past Tim Krul in the first half to make it 3-0 for the Blues.

Trevoh Chalobah- 8/10

Chalobah did what was asked of him and kept things simple at the back.

Thiago Silva- 8/10

The veteran Brazilian barely had anything to do in the first half and played a part in Chelsea’s second goal. Solid and commanding as always!

Antonio Rudiger- 8/10

Rudiger had a clean outing following his return from injury. Got forward and contributed to Chelsea’s attacks throughout the afternoon, testing the Norwich goalkeeper on a couple of occasions from long-range. Helped his team earn a penalty after the break which Mount took and scored following a retake.

Ben Chilwell- 9/10

Was up and down the pitch in the first half, putting in some teasing crosses in the box. Continued his outstanding goalscoring form of late with a clean strike after the interval, making up for the error which almost cost his side a goal.

Jorginho- 8/10

Jorginho, as often, made Chelsea tick with his simple, crisp passes and ball recycling from the middle of the park. The Italian international set up Mount’s first goal with a classic flick on.

Mateo Kovacic- 8/10

Played an inch-perfect defensive splitting through ball for Hudson-Odoi to run on to and score Chelsea’s second. The Croat’s influence continued throughout the second half as he controlled the tempo of the game along with Jorginho from the middle of the park.

Callum Hudson-Odoi- 9/10

Energetic, lively and dynamic, Hudson-Odoi terrorised the Norwich backline with his pace and movement. Great movement to reach Kovacic’s through ball before putting it past the onrushing Krul. Took the opportunity with both hands!

Mason Mount- 10/10

An impressive hat-trick and an assist to steal the show at Stamford Bridge! Great strike to open the scoring for his team before netting from the spot following a retake. At the right place to score his third to cap off a memorable afternoon.

Kai Havertz- 7/10

Havertz tried hard to get involved up front with his movement and passing ability. Did his job well in the injury absence of Romelu Lukaku but his overall influence faded after the break.

Substitutes

Ruben Loftus-Cheek- 6/10

Replaced Jorginho in the 65th minute and helped Chelsea maintain their dominance over Norwich. Unselfishly teed the ball to Mount to complete his hat-trick in the stoppage time.

Hakim Ziyech- 5/10

Came on for Hudson-Odoi for the last 20 minutes. Tried his best to make things and tested Krul once with a rasping left-footed drive from outside the box.

Ross Barkley- 5/10

Replaced Havertz in the 70th minute and made his presence felt with a shot that just flew wide off the post.
