Liverpool Could Have The Chance To Sign Ajax Speedster: Perfect Option For Klopp

Ajax winger David Neres could be available and Liverpool could make a move for him. The Brazilian has been with the Dutch club since 2017, signing from Sao Paulo for a fee of around €12 million.

According to AS, there could be an opportunity for clubs to sign Neres as he has fallen down the pecking order. Apart from Liverpool, the likes of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid could also be interested in signing the 24-year-old.

Neres’ current deal with Ajax expires in 2023, with the player having extended his contract in 2019. He has played 165 times for them, scoring 45 goals and assisting 40 times in his four-year spell with the club.

David Neres: A good option for Klopp?

David Neres played a key role in Ajax’s success in the Champions League a few years ago, but the signing of Antony and Steven Berghuis has had an impact on his gametime. Neres, who is a Brazilian international, is a player who has loads of flair, technical ability and speed. The left-footed winger likes to take on players with his speed and dribbling, while he is also adept at finding teammates with clever passes and through balls.

The Brazilian predominantly plays on the right side, cutting in with his stronger left foot and playing passes into the box. Apart from his right sided role, Neres has also played as a left winger and a No. 10, behind the main striker.

David Neres is a player who can hold on to the ball and bring others into play and can be a deadly threat on the counter. The 24-year-old could be a good fit in the Liverpool team, perhaps as a backup to talisman Mohamed Salah before possibly being an option to even replace him in the Reds’ first XI. Liverpool fans will be sweating over Salah’s contract, which expires in 2023. The Egyptian has been exceptional for the Merseyside club since signing for them in 2017.

Liverpool currently do not have too many natural right-sided wingers, with youngster Harvey Elliott the only other option for manager Jurgen Klopp. The likes of Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota can play on the right, but they are more effective from the left, or even centrally.  Neres could slot into the right sided role at Liverpool and be Salah’s deputy, coming on in games and also playing in cup competitions.

He has the talent and potential to eventually become a first-choice player in the Liverpool side. Neres is just 24 years of age but has a lot of experience of playing in Europe as well as at the international level.
