West Ham United eye a move for Premier League goal-getter: Good option for the club?

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is being tracked by Premier League side West Ham United according to reports.

Abraham had a good 2019-20 season where he scored 18 goals in all competitions, and he has scored 12 goals this season for the Blues.

As per The Guardian, Abraham could leave the club after being omitted from Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final squad. The Englishman is a target for West Ham United as well as Leicester City.

Abraham, who has come through the ranks at Chelsea, has two years remaining on his current deal with the club. However, he has failed to get into the starting lineup since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard.

The England international has started just 12 Premier League games for Chelsea this season, scoring six goals and an assist.

Tammy Abraham – A good option for West Ham?

West Ham United have had an extraordinary season in the Premier League and are in the race to finish in the top four spots this season. The Hammers have done so with just one natural and recognised striker in Michail Antonio, which makes their current league position even more admirable.

The London club, though, will need to strengthen their attack next season as they may be competing in Europe, which will require manager David Moyes to have a strong and deep squad.

Tammy Abraham could be a decent addition to the Hammers side for the 2021-22 season, as the Englishman has shown great promise and can get even better.

The rangy forward comes alive in and around the penalty box and often finds himself in the right place to score key goals for his side. Abraham has averaged 1.6 shots on goal per game in the league this season, in 20 appearances for Chelsea.

The Englishman is also decent in the air, using his 6’3″ frame to good effect in the penalty area. The 23-year-old has averaged 1.9 aerial wins per game in the league this season.

Abraham could develop and grow as a player with more game time, which he will surely receive at West Ham United. He showed great promise last season under Frank Lampard, and if he receives backing from Hammers manager David Moyes, we could see him score 20+ goals for the London club.

He could be used as a target man and flick on balls to attackers like Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma, while also giving Moyes the option of playing Antonio as a wide player.

The Chelsea forward has Premier League, European and international experience, which could help him handle the pressure of being West Ham United’s main striker. This is a deal that makes sense for the Hammers as well as Abraham and could help both parties involved in their progress.
