With the transfer window opening in two months, the rumours are coming in thick and fast.
According to TF1, PSG have reached out to representatives of Liverpool star Mo Salah in a bid to bring him to Paris.
Paris Saint-Germain fear that Kylian Mbappe might opt against extending his contract which is set to expire in the summer of 2022. If there is a danger of such a situation arising then they might have to cash in on the Frenchman this summer as letting him leave on a free at the end of his contract will not be feasible. If Mbappe is forced to leave, PSG will need a replacement for him and who better than Mo Salah right now?
The Egyptian international has achieved almost everything in England since joining Liverpool. He has won both, the Champions League and the Premier League with the Reds. He is also a two-time Golden Boot winner (2017/18 & 2018/19) and is headed towards a similar feat this time around as well. The 28-year-old is a natural goal scorer and will chip in with loads of goals in the French league.
Mo Salah: Perfect available replacement for Kylian Mbappe?
Kylian Mbappe has been a superstar for PSG since his arrival from AS Monaco. Whether it be in Ligue 1 or the Champions League, Mbappe has always turned up for his team. In 37 games for PSG this season, he has scored 33 goals and registered 10 assists. These are massive numbers and shows how big an influence he is for his side which also boasts of attackers like Neymar and Angel di Maria.
If he is allowed to leave this summer, a heavyweight replacement is guaranteed to come in for the World Cup winner. Mo Salah has been Liverpool’s talisman under Jurgen Klopp. His 32-goal season in 2017/18 was the first by any player since Alan Shearer who had scored 34 goals in 1994/95. Mo Salah has been a standout player for the Reds even with his team suffering this season. Salah hasn’t been great by any means but his propensity to come up with a goal out of nowhere again sees him challenging Harry Kane for the Golden Boot.
Liverpool stand in the 6th position with 53 points, two points off the fourth spot having played a game more.
If the Reds fail to qualify for the Champions League, Mo Salah will surely think about leaving the club. In the last few months, the Egypt international has conveyed his openness to play outside England.
In an interview, he was asked if he would like to play in La Liga, he responded by saying, “Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so maybe one day [I will play in Spain], yes.”
Paris Saint-Germain will love to have a player who knows what it means to be a Champions League winner which Salah is. He can play as a striker or a right-winger. His natural game is to cut inside from the right flank and dribble past defenders. The idea of having Neymar on one flank and Salah on another even after potentially losing a talent like Mbappe will be something which the PSG owners will not frown upon too much.
