Since joining Liverpool, Mo Salah has been one of the best forwards for the Reds in the Champions League and the Premier League. However, despite his stellar displays, he has often been linked with an exit and rumours have begun to surface again after yet another cryptic interview.

In a recent chat, Salah responded to a question regarding his future with “Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning with Liverpool again”

Marca has revealed that Salah has said “It’s not up to me. We’ll see what happens but I prefer not to talk about that now” when asked about playing for another club.

One the possibility of playing in Spain, he said ”I hope to be able to play for many more years. Why not? No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so… maybe one day, yes.”

The 28-year-old Egyptian forward is highly regarded in Spain and a potential move to Barcelona or Real Madrid cannot be ruled out.

Better Fit For Mo Salah?

Barcelona- 3/10

The presidential elections crowned FC Barcelona’s new president Joan Laporta for a second time, a development that plays a part in our assumption on how any likely interest could pan out. The situation with Lionel Messi’s contract is one of the first business activities that the new President will be looking to sort. The Spaniard has publicly vowed to do his best to retain the services of the Argentine genius.

If Messi has faith in and remains a part of the project Laporta is trying to put together, then all interest in the Liverpool talisman can cease to exist with both the superstars operating in the same space on a football pitch. In addition, the financial turmoil Barcelona finds itself in will restrict the club from harbouring any such lofty thoughts.

There will also be a substantial transfer fee involved as Mo Salah has got two years of contract left at Liverpool which means the Reds will not be under any pressure to negotiate with any potential suitors this summer.

There is no doubt in the player’s attacking skills despite the struggles of Liverpool in the Premier League this season. Salah still holds the top scorer position with 17 goals in the league this campaign.

Looking at the existing scenario though, the possibility of any such move seems remote. A move involving a huge transfer fee followed by a demanding salary for a player who turns 29 in June does not sound feasible for a club that has numerous issues to resolve both on and off the pitch.

Real Madrid- 5/10

Real Madrid seem uncertain on the way forward in the upcoming transfer window, especially given their inconsistency in the forward line. They have not been impressed with the goal-scoring ability of Vinicius Junior and want to get a player who is more influential in front of the goal.

Karim Benzema has been the pillar for Madrid and in the games he has struggled, Real Madrid have struggled. Adding a player like Mo Salah will definitely improve the attacking calibre of the Madrid line-up and his direct approach to goalscoring will suit a side like Real.

Similar to Barcelona, Los Blancos are also in the midst of a financial crisis. They are not in a position where they can bring in 4-5 exciting talents to the club as they have traditionally done in summer transfer windows gone by. In such a case, it is not ideal to spend a huge amount on a single player with a huge salary.

But, there is a greater possibility of Madrid landing Mo Salah than Barcelona.

It seems likely that Sergio Ramos will leave as a free agent at the end of the season which will give them some relief in terms of wages. There is also the Gareth Bale conundrum to solve for the team management. The player seems happy to be pocketing his salary and will be in no rush to push for a move away given that he has one more year left on his lucrative contract. If Real can move him on, the chances of Salah arriving will become much more realistic.

But a truce with a potentially in-form Bale will negate any such transfer considerations as well.

Real Madrid are now at one of the most critical crossroads in its history. And, youth must be the solution if they are to hit the other side, which holds potential prosperity. So, we think that they should and might actually wait and consider a move for young sensations like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland in the future.
