Manchester United are on an excellent run in the Premier League. Masking their disappointing Champions League campaign exit with another comeback win against Sheffield United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men notched up their 5th win in the last 6 league fixtures.

They host Leeds United today, in a fixture which is steeped in history and both clubs will be keen to renew their age-old rivalry on the biggest stage once again.

The Whites have blown hot and cold upon their comeback to the Premier League but have not sacrificed their inventive and ambitious gameplay even during a run of 4 losses in their last 7 games.

MANCHESTER UNITED TEAM NEWS

Edinson Cavani has been passed fit for the fixture but is unlikely to start from the off.

Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero remain out with Ole having the rest of the regular first-team squad available for selection.

PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINEUP VS LEEDS UNITED (4-4-2 Diamond)

DEFENCE

David de Gea will start in goal. Dean Henderson played against the Blades and seems to be edging closer to a base from where he can genuinely challenge the Spaniard’s place in the team.

The backline is not expected to see much change. Aaron Wan-Bissaka will play on the right in the Manchester United lineup while Luke Shaw is expected to come in place of Alex Telles on the left if Ole opts for a 4-man backline.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire should retain their places at the heart of the defence in the Manchester United lineup.

MIDFIELD

Fred and Scott McTominay were seemingly rested in the midweek and we expect them to return to the fold today.

And if Ole has to accommodate Paul Pogba alongside, he is likely to opt for a diamond formation in midfield. The Frenchman has been decent without being too explosive and Ole will take these performances from him right now. The World Cup winner has seemed more earnest and is contributing in the defensive aspects as well, something he has to do against Bielsa’s high tempo football.

At the tip of the diamond in the Manchester United lineup, it should be the ever-present Bruno Fernandes. He was surprisingly not involved in the final moments of the goals in midweek but will be key against Leeds.

ATTACK

Mason Greenwood might be sacrificed if Ole opts for this formation. The front two, in that case, will be the in-form Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
