Leeds United put in a brilliant performance against Aston Villa last weekend, registering their third win of the season. The Whites have a tough fixture at home to the high-flying Leicester City, who are two points above them in the Premier League table.
The last encounter between these two sides was in 2017 in the League Cup when the Foxes won the game 3-1. Leeds have won one, drawn one, and lost one of the three home fixtures in the Premier League this season, but have hit the ground running, and will look to keep the good run going.
Leeds United Team News
Adam Forshaw, Kalvin Phillips and Diego Llorente are still on the sidelines and they will not be available for the game against Leicester. Captain Liam Cooper, though, is fit and is in contention to make the Leeds United lineup.
Let’s take a look at the team that Marcelo Bielsa could put out on Monday night:
Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Leicester City
Goalkeeper
Illan Meslier had a solid game last time around and has settled in well to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. He should start in goal for the Whites on Monday.
Defence
Luke Ayling and Robin Koch played at the heart of the defence in the win against Villa, but with Liam Cooper returning, he should go straight into the Leeds United lineup alongside Koch.
Ayling should return to his natural right-back spot, while Stuart Dallas – who played at right-back last time around – should play at left-back, replacing Ezgjan Alioski.
Midfield
Pascal Struijk was substituted in the first half after picking up a yellow against Villa. His replacement, Jamie Shackleton, did well after coming on, and he could get his first Premier League start.
Mateusz Klich should play in the base of midfield, while Rodrigo should continue as the No. 10 in the Leeds United lineup. Pablo Hernandez is another option for Bielsa in the attacking midfield role.
Attack
Bielsa may not make any changes to the front three. Patrick Bamford scored a sensational hat-trick last time around and he should start as the main striker.
The ever-consistent Jack Harrison should start on the left, while Helder Costa should play on the opposite flank.
The likes of Raphinha and Ian Poveda are other options for Bielsa in the wide areas for the clash against Leicester City.
