Hendrick to Start: Predicted 5-3-2 Newcastle United Lineup vs Southampton

Newcastle United registered a solid 2-1 win against Everton last time around in the Premier League, and the Magpies will next take on Southampton, who have had a sensational start to the season. Steve Bruce’s men are 11th in the Premier League table with 11 points from their opening seven games of the season.

Newcastle United have won their last three games against Southampton and haven’t lost to them since 2016, and will be hopeful of a positive result before the international break. Consistency has been the biggest problem for the Magpies this season once again.

Newcastle United Team News

Predicted Newcastle United Lineup vs Southampton

Goalkeeper

Karl Darlow will continue in goal for the Magpies in place of the injured Martin Dubravka.

Defence

Steve Bruce could continue with the five-man backline considering Southampton play two strikers and will see a lot of the ball. Captain Jamaal Lascelles should play at the back alongside Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez. Ciaran Clark and Paul Dummett are other options for Bruce at the back.

Jamal Lewis should continue in the left full-back position, while Jacob Murphy should retain his position at right-back in the Newcastle United lineup. Murphy has performed well in that new position. Javier Manquillo and Emil Krafth can also play in that role for Newcastle.

Midfield

Bruce has several options in the middle of the park, with the likes of Sean Longstaff, Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden, Matty Longstaff, Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser capable of playing there.

The gaffer could pick Hendrick, Sean Longstaff and Almiron to give the team the right balance between attack and defence.

Attack

Callum Wilson has been in sensational form for Newcastle United and he should lead the line for the Magpies on Friday.

Allan Saint-Maximin should play alongside the former Bournemouth forward in the Newcastle United lineup. The likes of Andy Carroll and Joelinton are other options for Steve Bruce in attack for Friday’s game against Southampton.
