Rashford & Martial Up Front: Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs RB Leipzig

Manchester United kept their first clean sheet of the Premier League season this past weekend when they secured a 0-0 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford. The Red Devils will once again be in action in the Champions League this week when they host RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

The Premier League side will face the German team for the very first time in their history this week. Leipzig have had a good start to the Bundesliga season as they are undefeated and top of the table with 13 points from 5 games.

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United lineup for the game against RB Leipzig.

Team News

Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones will miss the game through injury. Anthony Martial will be available for selection as he is serving a domestic suspension.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs RB Leipzig (5-3-2)

Goalkeeper

David de Gea should start in goal for Manchester United against the Bundesliga leaders.

Defence

It will be interesting to see if manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reverts to his 3/5-man backline he used against PSG last week. Leipzig have an exciting attack that could cause trouble to the United defence. The Red Devils could persist with a five-man defence once again.

Harry Maguire should replace Victor Lindelof at the back, while Axel Tuanzebe and Luke Shaw could be the other two central defenders. Alex Telles, who missed the Chelsea game, could return to his left wing-back slot, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka could play on the other side in the Manchester United lineup.

Midfield

Scott McTominay has put in good performances in the last few games. He should start in midfield for the Red Devils, while Paul Pogba could replace Fred in the middle of the park. Bruno Fernandes should continue in the No. 10 role in the Manchester United lineup.

Donny van de Beek, Fred, and Nemanja Matic are other options for Solskjaer in the midfield area.

Attack

Anthony Martial should replace Daniel James from the team that started against Chelsea, while Marcus Rashford – who scored the decisive goal against PSG – should partner him up front in the Manchester United lineup.

Edinson Cavani, who played thirty minutes for United against Chelsea, will be an option off the bench for the Red Devils.
