Gomes-Allan-Doucoure In Midfield: 4-3-3 Everton Predicted Lineup vs Liverpool

everton lineup

Everton are flying at the top of the Premier League having won all four of their opening games. The Toffees face off against arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday, in a clash between 1st and 5th. Liverpool were thrashed by Aston Villa last time around, and their weekend’s opponents could look to exploit their weaknesses.

The Toffees have not been in good form in the Merseyside derby as their last win came a decade ago, thanks to goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta. This is a new-look Everton side who seem to be a cohesive unit under manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Let’s take a look at the possible Everton lineup for the game against Liverpool.

Team News:

Long-term injury absentees Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Cenk Tosun and Mason Holgate will miss the game. Defenders Jonjoe Kenny and Jarrad Branthwaite will also miss this weekend’s Merseyside derby. Allan and Andre Gomes, both of whom missed the win against Brighton last time around, have been passed fit and they should return to the starting XI.

Captain Seamus Coleman should also be available after sustaining a knock, despite pulling out of the Ireland squad. Defender Yerry Mina also sustained a knock during training which led to him pulling out of the Colombia squad. He should be available as he was removed from training as a preventive measure.

Goalkeeper

Everton’s No. 1 Jordan Pickford should start in goal for the Toffees.

Defence

Yerry Mina and Michael Keane have formed a good partnership at the back and they should continue for the Liverpool game if Mina is passed fit. If Mina is unavailable, new signing Ben Godfrey could start in his place.

Coleman and Lucas Digne should continue at right-back and left-back, respectively in the Everton lineup.

Midfield

We could see Allan and Andre Gomes restored to the Everton lineup in midfield and they will play alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Gylfi Sigurdsson had a strong game against Brighton and he could be an option off the bench for Ancelotti.

Attack

Richarlison was brought off last time around due to an injury, but he got a few minutes in Brazil’s international games which indicates that he is fit.

He should start in attack with James Rodriguez and the league’s top scorer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
