Premier League Matchweek 1: Leeds & Chelsea Stars Among 5 New Signings To Look Out For

The 2020/21 Premier League season is just a week away and the clubs around the country are still busy adding quality to their ranks in the transfer window. Most clubs have already completed a number of impressive deals and we could see a few clubs make moves this week, before the start of the new season.

There are many exciting players to look forward to in the new campaign and here are five such players who could catch the eye on Matchweek 1 of the new season:

Timo Werner (Chelsea)

Arguably the most exciting signing of the transfer window this summer, Werner is expected to lead the line for Chelsea in their opening weekend’s game against Brighton.

The Blues have a formidable attack lead by a devastating finisher in Werner. The former RB Leipzig man has the potential to be a superstar in England and his first real Premier League test will be at the Amex and could be a treat to watch, even for the neutral audience.

Adam Lallana (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Another player to watch out for in the same game will be former English midfielder Adam Lallana. Having joined Graham Potters’ side early in the transfer window, Lallana has had enough time to get used to his new club and is expected to be a regular in the first team next season.

However, he has not played competitive football for a while now and could take time to settle in. He will be tasked with the responsibility to add creativity and grit to the Brighton midfield and against a star-studded side like Chelsea, his contribution could be crucial if the hosts are to take anything from this game.

Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea)

The former Ajax playmaker is one of many world-class players that will be on display in the Premier League next season. Ziyech has probably been Chelsea’s best player in the pre-season and will pose a real test for the Seagulls this weekend. He is a genuine match-winner and will announce himself to the English game at Amex so his performance in this game could be one to look out for in the new season.

As of now, he is a slight doubt with a knee issue but we expect the player to be fit in time, with Lampard expected to try and make a statement in the opening weekend.

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace)

Though not as high profile a transfer as the other three till now on this list, Crystal Palace’s acquisition of QPR winger Eze could be a game-changer in the league next season. The 22-year-old is a skilful winger, who has already put in an impressive performance in the pre-season for the Eagles.

He registered 14 goals and eight assists in the Championship last season and is a versatile player that can make Roy Hodgson’s system at Palace that much more effective. He is a treat to watch and is certainly a player to look out for in the first weekend of the new Premier League campaign.

Rodrigo (Leeds United)

Marcelo Bielsa decided to break the bank to sign Valencia midfielder Rodrigo in a club-record transfer earlier in the transfer window. The 29-year-old is an experienced and versatile attacker who will surely add goals to this Leeds side.

Bielsa had an in-form Patrick Bamford last season leading the attack in a 4-1-4-1 system. Rodrigo can replace Bamford in the striker’s role or even Helder Costa or Jack Harrison on the wings, adding a new dimension to the Leeds attack. The Valencia star can also play as a support striker, so Bielsa has options to chose from to get the best out of his new signing as he looks to make an impression in the Premier League.
