Leicester City will start their 2020-21 Premier League campaign on Sunday as they are scheduled to make a trip to the Hawthorns to face-off against newly promoted West Bromwich Albion.
The Foxes, under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, were on the brink of securing a Champions League spot last season but could only muster a fifth-place finish after a forgettable run of form right at the death.
With new hopes and aspirations, the East Midlands based outfit will take on the newly promoted Albion side who fared commendably well under the stewardship of Slaven Bilic in the Championship.
Leicester City Team News
Jonny Evans was shown a direct red card against Manchester United in the final game of the previous league campaign. Owing to the same, the defender will be out of action for the first three games of the new season.
Ricardo Pereira is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program following his knee surgery and is expected to be out until October. Wes Morgan is nursing his hamstring problem and is doubtful for the upcoming fixture.
James Maddison was back on the pitch after his recovery from a hip injury but Rodgers might refrain from throwing him into the thick of the action so soon. Christian Fuchs is back from his groin injury but is doubtful for the game against Albion.
There are doubts over the availability of Matty James and Filip Benkovic. While the former has been on the fringes and is currently absent, the latter mysteriously missed the final pre-season game against Blackburn Rovers.

Goalkeeper
Kasper Schmeichel is still the undisputed first-choice custodian for Rodgers’ side. The veteran shot-stopper will start in goal as usual and will be keen to bag a clean sheet.
Defence
Summer signing Timothy Castagne could be summoned straight away to start as the right-back following his move from Atalanta, while James Justin could find a place for himself on the opposite side in the Leicester City lineup.
Wilfred Ndidi operated at the back during the pre-season game against the Riversiders and he could be given the nod to start in the heart of Leicester City’s defence alongside Turkish international Caglar Soyuncu.
Midfield
Nampalys Mendy could play a deeper role in the midfield to shield the backline against the Baggies.
Ahead of him, Rodgers could pencil Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet, while Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes could take up the wide areas in the Leicester City lineup.
Attack
English top-flight’s top-scorer of the previous term with 23 goals to his name, Jamie Vardy will lead the Leicester City lineup.
The 33-year-old is still one of the finest strikers in the game and will be desperate to make an impact once again.
