Newcastle United are reportedly keen on continuing their summer spending, and are eyeing a move for AS Roma winger Cengiz Under.

The Magpies have already brought in a few players in this transfer window, signing the likes of Callum Wilson, Jeff Hendrick, Ryan Fraser, and Jamal Lewis, to name a few.

Under could be the next player to play for the Magpies, as per Inside Futbol. Newcastle United are keen on bringing the 23-year-old winger on a loan deal, but Roma want to sell him, for a fee of around €25 million.

German club Hertha Berlin are also reportedly interested in signing Under, who has played 88 games, and plundered 17 goals and 12 assists for Roma.

The 23-year-old is a Turkish international as well, and has played 21 games for his national team. His contract with the club expires in 2023.

Cengiz Under to Newcastle United – The right player for Bruce?

Newcastle United have been surprise spenders in this transfer window, as owner Mike Ashley has not been as cagey as the previous transfer windows.

The Magpies’ have strengthened their attack, with the likes of Wilson and Fraser, both of who played for Bournemouth last season. Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron are other talented attacking players in the squad, and Newcastle United could finish in the top 10 under Steve Bruce this season with the squad depth and quality they possess.

The addition of Cengiz Under would give Bruce more options in attack, which looked bare last season when players were injured or suspended.

Under is a right-sided winger, who likes to cut into central areas with his strong left foot, and take on defences with his dribbling and speed. The diminutive wide player is not afraid to drift into different areas of the pitch, take shots on goal and cross as well.

The 23-year-old has speed to thrill and cause trouble opposition defences, and is a player that could excite and win over the fans at St. James’ Park. In Newcastle’s opening game, Jeff Hendrick played out on the right, and although he did well, scoring a goal, he is a natural central midfielder.

He scored just three goals for Roma last season, but impressed with his ability to create chances in the final third, as well as his dribbling.

Under managed 1.8 dribbles per game last season, down from 2.3 that he managed in the 2018-19 season, and had 1.5 key passes a game as well. Like Saint-Maximin, he would offer that x-factor, and can create something out of nothing.

The Turk could slot in on the right side of attack and link up well with the likes of Wilson, as well as midfielders like Shelvey and Hendrick.
