Aston Villa front runners to land exciting Bundesliga speedster: Why Smith should go all out

Aston Villa are preparing a move for Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica. The 24-year-old winger, who has been with the German club since 2018, has had a good spell with them, scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists in 74 appearances.

As per Bild, The Claret and Blue are one of the frontrunners to sign Milot Rashica, and they may have to pay around €18 million to sign the Kosovo international. The report states that there was previous interest for him from an Italian club, but that has died down. RB Leipzig were also keen on signing him but the German club were willing to pay €15 million for him.

Rashica has two years remaining on his current deal at Bremen.

Milot Rashica: Exciting prospect for Dean Smith?

Aston Villa have made two major signings this summer – right-back Matty Cash, and striker Ollie Watkins. Watkins is an exciting striker who was a part of a successful front three at Brentford in the Championship. The signing of Watkins could add goals to the Villa team, which they lacked severely with their strikers shooting blanks more often than not.

Villa’s interest in Milot Rashica should excite their fans. He is a player who could link up well with the likes of Watkins and captain Jack Grealish. Rashica is a quick and exciting winger, who mostly plays on the left side of attack, drifting into central areas and putting in teasing balls. The Kosovo international is a player that likes to take on defenders with his dribbling and moves into central areas to shoot or pass.

Milot Rashica is a very quick player who can turn defence into attack in no time and would be a very good asset to have in attack for Villa. If Villa sign Rashica, he will most likely slot in on the left side, but he is capable of playing as a right-sided winger as well, while also playing centrally as an attacking midfielder or second striker at a very high level.

If Smith is unwilling to tinker with Jack Grealish’s position on the pitch, Rashica could be accommodated on the right as well. Both Milot Rashica and Jack are versatile players and can function from central areas as well. Either way, this is a very exciting prospect for the Villans and if Smith can land the Kosovo international, the club will suddenly have a formidable front line, heading into a long and challenging season.
