Manchester United‘s 19-game unbeaten run came to an end last weekend as Chelsea defeated them 3-1 in the FA Cup. The Red Devils will now have to concentrate on securing a Champions League spot for next season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will host West Ham United in the final game at Old Trafford in the Premier League this season, and will hope to get a win and put pressure on Leicester City for the final Champions League spot.
The last time Manchester United and West Ham United played in the league, the Hammers – then managed by Manuel Pellegrini – won the game 2-0 at London Stadium.
West Ham, who are now managed by former Manchester United manager David Moyes, have been in good form since the restart, winning three and drawing one of their last 7 games.
Manchester United Team News
Eric Bailly suffered a head injury in the first half of the game against Chelsea. He will miss the game against West Ham United, and join the likes of Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe on the treatment table.
Luke Shaw should return to the United squad for the game against the Hammers, and could get a start.
Let’s take a look at how Manchester United could turn out for Wednesday night’s game:
Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs West Ham United
Goalkeeper
David de Gea had a terrible game against Chelsea and was to blame for at least two of the three goals. The Spaniard seems to still have the backing of his manager, who could keep him between the sticks for the game against West Ham United.
Defence
Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire were also poor against the Blues, but with the likes of Jones and Bailly injured, Solskjaer will have to stick to the duo in the Manchester United Lineup.
Shaw should get into the starting XI in place of Brandon Williams, while Aaron Wan–Bissaka should hold his right-back spot. Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who played in the win against Crystal Palace, is an option in either full-back position.
Midfield
Paul Pogba, who was a second-half substitute for Manchester United, should return to the Manchester United lineup in place of Fred, while Nemanja Matic could retain his place in midfield.
Bruno Fernandes should start further forward for the Red Devils. Scott McTominay is an option for United in place of Matic, but it’s likely the Serb will start.
Attack
Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood should start, while Marcus Rashford should retain his place in the starting XI, on the left side.
