Newcastle United have joined the race to sign Poland international Arkadiusz Milik who is currently employed at Napoli, once the transfer window reopens.

The striker has entered the last 12 months of his contract with the Italian outfit and many clubs are preparing themselves with their respective offers in a bid to add him to their ranks.

The 26-year-old forward has been slapped with a £44.6 million price tag with clubs like Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid monitoring his situation. Juventus, however, are insisting on offering a player as a part of the deal which is not something Napoli are looking at according to Inside Futbol.

The Magpies are expected to receive massive backing in the transfer market once the Saudi Arabian consortium backed by the crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman takes over matters at St. James Park.

Arkadiusz Milik: What will he add to the team?

Newcastle are currently in 13th place and have so far done well to stay away from the relegation zone under manager Steve Bruce. But their standards are sure to see an upgrade and there will be different targets set in the coming days as the £300 million takeover edges closer.

The club has already enquired about a lot of players which clearly shows their intentions and Milik seems to be the latest on their potential transfer wishlist.

The club is currently without a consistent finisher with Joelinton yet to find his feet in England. While the supply chain hasn’t been that great this season, his failure to hold onto the ball and finish most of the chances falling his way has also been an issue for them.

Arkadiusz Milik is expected to solve most of those issues even though he would eventually need support from other areas too, but if Newcastle manage to land even a couple of the targets from their rumoured wishlist, Milik would be a solid option to lead the line next season.

The attacker has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for Napoli this season and is about to reach his peak which would be the ideal time for a club to get hold of his services. With 45 goals from over 100 appearances for Napoli, the centre-forward has the right amount of confidence and experience to get going at Newcastle.

He can play as a second striker too and is also a big threat from set-pieces. Arkadiusz Milik’s hold up play is often talked about and it will help midfielders like Jonjo Shelvey and Allan Saint-Maximin to develop good chemistry with the forward, something which was also expected of Joelinton.
