Manchester United return to action in the Premier League this Friday when they face off against Tottenham, managed by former Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were on a brilliant run of form before the league was paused back in March.
United are unbeaten in 11 games, which includes wins against Manchester City and Chelsea. They are currently fifth in the league table, three points behind Chelsea in fourth, and four points ahead of Spurs, who are eighth.
The Red Devils will have a few key players back from injury, which includes two of the most influential players in the United squad – Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba. Let’s see how Manchester United could line up when the season resumes:
Possible Manchester United lineup for the rest of the season
Goalkeeper
David de Gea should start in goal for Manchester United, and he will have to put on some good performances until the end of the season. Youngster Dean Henderson has been in good form on loan at Sheffield United, and he could be vying for a first-team spot next season.
Defence
Captain Harry Maguire will lead the Manchester United defence, with either Victor Lindelof or Eric Bailly playing alongside him.
Lindelof was impressive in United’s last Premier League win, which came against Manchester City at Old Trafford, and he may get the nod ahead of Bailly.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will hope to end his debut season at Manchester United on a high, and he will start at right-back, while Luke Shaw will aim to continue his good run of form at left-back.
Midfield
The return of Paul Pogba to the Manchester United midfield gives Solskjaer more options. The French World Cup-winning captain could be paired with Fred, Scott McTominay or Nemanja Matic in midfield.
Fred has been impressive this season, and he could start alongside Pogba in midfield. It’s an easier choice ahead of the two central midfielders, with Bruno Fernandes expected to start as the No. 10 in the team.
Attack
Marcus Rashford should return to his left-sided attacking role, while Anthony Martial should continue as the centre-forward. Juan Mata is an option on the right, but Daniel James should pip him to the right-sided attacking role for Manchester United.
