Manchester United Target Could Be Available For £27million: The Right Fit For The Club?

Cengiz Under as roma

Manchester United may reportedly turn their attention to AS Roma winger Cengiz Under if they fail to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has been linked with a move to Manchester United and is reportedly their no.1 target, but if they can’t get the deal over the line, they will have to look elsewhere for a new right winger.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Daily Mail), United are one of a few Premier League clubs interested in signing Under.

Arsenal and Everton are also tracking Under, who could be available for £27 million, which is a lot less than the fee Sancho will demand.

Under has been with AS Roma since 2017, having joined the club for €13.4 million from the Turkish side, Basaksehir.

Cengiz Under – Right fit for Manchester United?

Under is a left-footed inverted winger who plays on the right, and likes to cut into central areas from wide positions, and use his pace and dribbling ability to create openings in the final third.

The Turkish international, who has also made 20 appearances for his national team, has a strong left foot, which he uses to his advantage to put in crosses or take shots on goal.

The 5’8″ winger uses his small size to good effect, and pretty good balance about him. His quick movements to get away from opponents make him an elusive player in the attacking third.

Under is a player with flair, technical ability, and speed that would make him a good fit for a lot of teams in the Premier League.

But, Manchester United should tread carefully here. Under has the potential to be a good player, but is far from the finished project – unlike Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils could maybe scout the Turkish international for another season before making a move for him. After making a bright start for Roma in 2018, the 2019-20 season has been a disappointing one for Under, which should make Manchester United a little apprehensive about making a move for him.

United should rather wait till Sancho becomes available or try to sign a right winger as a stop-gap option until they can secure the signing of the Borussia Dortmund star.

The Red Devils already have a promising winger with potential in Daniel James, and should refrain from signing a player of his mould.
