Championship side West Brom are reportedly interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi. The Baggies could make a move for the 26-year-old if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

As per Aksam (via Birmingham Mail), West Brom are open to paying £18 million for the Kosovo international. But, there’s a lot of competition for the striker, with Premier League sides, Tottenham and Aston Villa, as well as Lazio, interested in signing him.

Muriqi has three more years remaining on his contract at Fenerbahce, having joined the club before the start of the 2019-20 season. The striker made 28 appearances for the Turkish side in the 2019-20 season, scoring 15 goals and making 6 assists.

Vedat Muriqi – A good option if they make the Premier League next season?

Muriqi has been a revelation at Fenerbahce this season, scoring plenty of goals and attracting interest from several clubs.

The Kosovo international is a strong and physical player, who is good with the ball on the ground and in the air. Despite standing at 6’4″, Muriqi is quick and can catch out defenders with his deceptive pace.

In the 2019-20 season, he averaged a whopping 5 aerial wins per game, showcasing his tremendous aerial prowess. That is one aspect of his game that would work well in the Premier League.

Muriqi is a very good finisher in and around the box, averaging 3.6 shots on goal per game in the Turkish league. He is a player who likes to drop deep, hold the ball and wait for his teammates to join in, before advancing into the box. He can play with his back to the goal well.

The left-footed player is also a good passer of the ball from outside the box, and tries to play in his teammates at every opportunity. Muriqi would be a great signing for West Brom, who would need a player who can hold the ball up as they may not have the ball for long periods of the game.

Muriqi’s ability in the air will also please West Brom manager Slaven Bilic, and he would fit in well in the 4-2-3-1 system that the Baggies play. The Kosovo international has the ability to cause trouble to Premier League defences, and should be a good buy for West Brom.
