Southampton could make a move for Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica, who has impressed for the German club so far this season.
Rashica joined Bremen from Vitesse Arnhem in 2018, and has become a key player for the German side.
As per Bild, Rashica has a release clause in his contract which is set at €38 million, and the same could further reduce to €15 million if the club are relegated from Bundesliga. But, the clause expires on June 15.
Southampton are not the only club interested in signing Rashica as Premier League leaders Liverpool, as well as German side RB Leipzig are also eyeing a move for the attacker.
The Kosovo international has scored 10 goals and made 5 assists for the club in 24 games this season in all competitions, and is the club’s top scorer. His current deal with the club expires in 2022.
Milot Rashica – A smashing move by Hasenhuttl?
Rashica is a right-footed winger who primarily plays on the left side of attack, and has also played as a false nine as well a striker. He can also be deployed on the right, having played there as a makeshift attacker at times.
The versatile attacker has a good burst of pace, and is a big threat in counter-attacking situations. A confident dribbler, Rashica likes to cut in from wide areas into the central areas, and can test goalkeepers with his shooting or put in a mean cross.
In the current Bundesliga season, Rashica has averaged 2.2 successful dribbles per game. His pace and close control have troubled opposition defences this season, although Bremen has a team have struggled.
Rashica also likes to take shots on goal – from inside the penalty or outside – averaging 3 shots per game this season.
He is a player that would fit in well in the Premier League with his pace and direct running. Signing Rashica would be a coup for Southampton, who need goal-scoring attackers in their team.
Rashica would give Ralph Hasenhuttl more options, with the likes of Nathan Redmond, 21-year-old Moussa Djenepo, and Sofiane Boufal being the only options out wide.
His ability to play anywhere in the front three would be a bonus for Hasenhuttl. The 23-year-old has the potential to be a top player in the Premier League, and could help the Saints to a top 10 position next season in the Premier League.
