Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Huddersfield Town

Leeds United will enter this week’s Championship game full of confidence after brushing aside Hull City 4-0 last weekend. The Whites host Huddersfield Town at Elland Road on Saturday, who are currently in 17th in the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side still hold a five-point gap to third-placed Fulham and have now closed the gap to West Brom at the top of the table, with just one point separating first from second. The last time Leeds and Huddersfield met, the Whites won the game 2-0.

Let’s take a look at the possible Leeds United lineup for the game against Huddersfield.

Team News

Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla is suspended for the next few games and won’t be involved this weekend. January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin could miss this game as well due to a hamstring injury, while Adam Forshaw is ruled out for the rest of the season.

Goalkeeper

Young goalkeeper Illan Meslier will continue in goal in Casilla’s absence. Meslier kept a clean sheet last time around and had a good game.

Defence

Bielsa could continue with the same back four that he played last time around. Luke Ayling – who opened the scoring for Leeds last time around, scoring his third goal of the season – should continue at right-back.

The centre-back pairing of Ben White and Liam Cooper should start, while Stuart Dallas should continue at left-back. Ezgjan Alioski was a late substitute last time around and he will be an option off the bench for Leeds.

Midfield

Kalvin Phillips should start in the base of midfield for Leeds, with Mateusz Klich to start ahead of him in the Leeds United lineup. Klich made two assists last time around and has been in good form lately. Pablo Hernandez got on the score sheet from his midfield position, and he should retain his place in the starting XI too.

Jamie Shackleton is an option for Bielsa in midfield.

Attack

The two wide players, Jack Harrison and Helder Costa should keep their places in the Leeds United lineup. Both had good games last time around and they will be expected to create chances once again. The one change that Bielsa could make from last time around is upfront. Patrick Bamford, who has not scored in the last seven games, could make way for Tyler Roberts, who scored two late goals after coming on against Hull City.
