Liverpool keeping a close eye on €60million rated midfield ace: A good fit under Klopp?

marcelo brozovic liverpool transfer news

Liverpool have put Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic on their radar, according to reports.

Brozovic has been a key cog in Antonio Conte’s side so far this season, having featured in 21 Serie A games.

As per FCInterNews, Liverpool scouts were present in Inter’s clash against AC Milan on Sunday to watch Brozovic in action.

Brozovic’s consistent performances in midfield have helped Inter to the summit of the table this season as they look to end Juventus’ stranglehold on the Scudetto.

The Croatian’s contract with Inter Milan comes to an end in the summer of 2022, but he has a €60million release clause that Liverpool can trigger if they wish to.

Marcelo Brozovic – He would fit in well under Klopp

Liverpool’s midfield was an area of concern a couple of years ago, but Jurgen Klopp’s smart investment and ability to get the best out of players has changed that.

The Reds have good depth in the midfield, and Adam Lallana’s adaptation to a deeper midfielder has helped them cope with the fixture congestion this season.

If Brozovic signs for Liverpool, he will compete directly with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum for a place in the Liverpool midfield. The Croatian, though, is as good as the trio, if not better.

Part of an accomplished Inter midfield this season, Brozovic has managed to dominate games with his passing and tackling ability. The 27-year old has impressive work-ethic and the engine to press and chase players even in the dying embers of the game to ensure his team get over the line.

All the successful Klopp sides have had midfielders with good work rate, and Brozovic certainly falls into that category.

So far this season, Brozovic has averaged an impressive 2.6 tackles and 1.3 interceptions in the Serie A. The number show how good a defensive shifts he puts in.

His offensive numbers are equally impressive, as he averages at least one key pass a game, and has scored three while assisting five goals.

Liverpool will lose Lallana in the summer as the former Southampton man has decided not to extend his contract with the club.

While the Reds have good options, someone like Brozovic would allow Klopp to rest easy even when two of their first team midfield regulars are injured, or even give him the room to rotate more often next season.
