Liverpool star could be subject of a £75m bid: Should Klopp entertain any potential approach?

roberto firmino

Bayern Munich could be readying a bid for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino, as the German giants look to revamp a struggling squad. Roberto Firmino had joined the Merseyside club from Hoffenheim in 2015 for a fee of £29 million and has gone on to become one of the most valuable players for Jurgen Klopp.

As per The Sun, Bayern could make a bid of around £75 million for the 28-year-old Brazilian, who has formed a lethal partnership with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in a front three considered to be one of the best in the world.

The report states that Bayern think that one of those three attackers could be allowed to leave Liverpool as the Premier League leaders are eyeing a move for German striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. Firmino is one of Bayern’s targets along with Manchester City’s Leroy Sane, who they have been linked with for a long time.

Roberto Firmino’s contract with Liverpool expires in 2023. The versatile attacker has scored 76 goals and provided 59 assists in 228 games in all competitions for Liverpool.

Roberto Firmino: Can Klopp afford to let him leave?

One of the main reasons for the success and domination of Liverpool in the last few seasons has been the form of the front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino. Firmino has gone about his job quietly, but very effectively, as part of Liverpool’s attacking trio.

His clever movement, ability to pick out key passes, flair and goalscoring ability has won over fans and helped Liverpool become the all-conquering side that they are now. The Brazilian is not a natural No. 9 but is a player that excels in the False 9 role at Liverpool. His unselfish play has helped Mane and Salah blossom, and that’s exactly the reason why Liverpool should not allow him to leave in the summer.

Each player in the front three complement each other and they have created a telepathic understanding that has tormented defences in Europe. Roberto Firmino is currently in his prime and he should not be sold as finding a replacement for him will be tough. While a player like Werner would improve Liverpool, he should be brought in to add competition to the front three, rather than replace one of them.

Firmino, like a number of Liverpool’s first team, should be offered a bumper pay raise and pursued to stay at Liverpool and win more trophies at Anfield rather than be allowed to become a part of more future transfer rumours such as these (!)
