#5 Krzysztof Piatek – AC Milan to Hertha Berlin (€27 million)

Krzysztof Piatek earned a well-deserved move to AC Milan in the 2019 January transfer window after impressing for Genoa in Serie A. But, after a slow start to the 2019-20 season, the Italian club have decided to let the Polish forward leave yet again, 12 months after signing him.

Piatek moved to German club Hertha Berlin for a fee of €27 million, and he will hope to have a better end to the 2019-20 season.

#4 Steven Bergwijn – PSV Eindhoven to Tottenham (€30 million)

Young Dutch attacker Steven Bergwijn moved from PSV Eindhoven to Tottenham in the January transfer window, to bolster Spurs’ attack which needed sprucing up. The 22-year-old Bergwijn has had a very good season, scoring 6 goals and assisting 13 times in all competitions for the Dutch side and got off to the perfect start in the Premier League, scoring an excellent volley against Manchester City.

The Dutch international, who moved for a fee of €30 million, is capable of playing on either side as a winger or as a main striker, using his pace, dribbling ability, and clever passing to good effect.

#3 Reinier – Flamengo to Real Madrid (€30 million)

Real Madrid have a history of signing young stars for big sums of money, to groom them to eventually become megastars for the first team. The Spanish giants signed 18-year-old midfielder Reinier from Flamengo in the January transfer window for a big transfer fee of €30 million.

The Brazilian youngster was a part of the very successful Flamengo side, which won the league title and the Copa Libertadores last season. The talented attacking midfielder will for now, be a part of Real Madrid Castilla, the Spanish side’s reserve team, before being promoted to the senior side.

#2 Dejan Kulusevski – Atalanta to Juventus (€35 million)

Another exciting youngster that was signed by a big European club in the January transfer window is attacker Dejan Kulusevski, by Juventus from Atalanta. The 19-year-old has impressed for Parma this season, where he was on loan from Atalanta and will continue to be on loan till the end of the season.

The Swedish international was signed for €35 million, making him the second costliest player in the 2020 winter transfer window. Kulusevski is capable of playing in several positions, having started his career as a midfielder and attacking midfielder. He has played as a wide attacker or second striker this season, where his clever running and dribbling has been very useful. He is a talented player who could perhaps stake a claim in the Juventus starting XI next season.

#1 Bruno Fernandes – Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United (€55 million)

The biggest signing of the January transfer window is the deal to bring Bruno Fernandes to England, moving from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United. The Portuguese international was signed for €55 million after impressing for Sporting over the last two seasons.

Fernandes’ goal-scoring ability, passing, and dribbling, as well as his leadership, resulted in Manchester United’s strong interest in him. Fernandes will be a much-needed addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who have lacked quality and creativity in the final third.
