Key Midfielder To Return | Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup vs Wolves

liverpool lineup

Liverpool took a massive step towards their first Premier League title last weekend, when they brushed aside Manchester United at Anfield.

The Reds travel to the Molineux to face Wolves in their next game, and it will be a tricky fixture for the league leaders.

Wolves have lost just twice at home this season, and will look to take some points off Jurgen Klopp’s side and move into the top 5.

The last time these two sides faced off, Liverpool narrowly beat Wolves, thanks to a solitary goal from Sadio Mane. The Reds, who have two games in hand over Manchester City, go into this game 13 points ahead of the defending champions.

Liverpool Team News

Naby Keita and James Milner will miss the game for Liverpool, while Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri are doubtful for the Thursday night game as well.

Fabinho and Joel Matip returned to the Liverpool squad for the Manchester United clash, with the former playing a small part in the game. Klopp could reintroduce one of the two to the starting lineup against Wolves.

Let’s take a look at the possible Liverpool team for the game against Wolves.

Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Wolves

Goalkeeper

Alisson should start in goal for the Reds against Wolves. The Brazilian had a straight-forward game against Manchester United, but could come under more pressure from Wolves who break with pace and guile.

Defence

Klopp may not risk introducing Matip at a tough place like Molineux, as the defender has been out of action for a month.

The German will most likely go with the duo of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk at the back for Liverpool.

The full-backs, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson, will also retain their places at right-back and left-back, respectively.

Midfield

We could see Klopp bring back Fabinho to the Liverpool lineup in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Brazilian could play in the base of midfield, with captain Jordan Henderson occupying Oxlade-Chamberlain’s role. Georginio Wijnaldum should retain his place on the left side of the three-man Liverpool midfield.

Attack

It’s highly unlikely that Klopp will make changes to his trusted front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.

Wolves is a tough place to play and Klopp needs his best players to start. He might instead rest a few of his players during Sunday’s FA Cup tie against League One side Shrewsbury Town.
