Manchester United Could Make £43m Move For French Ace: How Will Their Attack Look?

moussa dembele

Manchester United could sign Moussa Dembele from French club Lyon, it has been claimed.

The striker has been at the club since 2018, having joined from Celtic, and has been a good goal-scorer for the French side.

As per Footmercato, the Red Devils could make a bid of £43 million in the January transfer window.

The English club need to sign reinforcements in attack following the injury to attacker Marcus Rashford, who is set to be out for several weeks.

Dembele joined the club for around €22 million, and his contract with Lyon expires in 2023.

The Frenchman, who has previously played for Fulham in the Premier League, as well as Celtic in the Scottish league, has been in good form for Lyon.

He has scored 15 goals in 29 games in all competitions this season, and is closing in on his tally of 20 goals from last season.

How will Manchester United line up with Moussa Dembele in the XI?

The injury to Rashford is a major blow to Manchester United as the England forward has perhaps been one of the club’s best players this season.

The 22-year-old will be out for quite a while, which leaves manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with just Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as the options up front.

Martial has been inconsistent, while Greenwood is just 18 years of age and is in his first full season as a Manchester United player.

Dembele could be a good signing for United as he is a proven goal-scorer who can play as a lone forward. The Frenchman is a neat finisher and has good pace to catch defences out.

If Manchester United do sign Dembele, he could go straight into the starting lineup, playing as the main striker in place of Martial.

Martial has played well in few games following Solskjaer’s move to play him as a central striker. But, the Frenchman has also been very inconsistent, while his hold-up play hasn’t been very good as well.

He could move back to the left-wing role if United do sign Dembele, and fill in that role until Rashford returns to the team. Martial could do a job on the left, and perhaps would feel at home out wide once again.
