Leicester City are interested in Amiens striker Serhou Guirassy, who moved to the French club in the summer and has impressed in a few games. The 23-year-old forward moved to the French side from Cologne in the German league.
As per Daily Mail, a few English clubs are interested in the Frenchman, with Aston Villa the other side keen on signing him. Guirassy moved to Amiens for £5 million, but they are reportedly willing to let him go in the January transfer window. His current deal with the club expires in 2022.
Serhou Guirassy, who has played for the France U20 team, has scored 4 times in 16 appearances this season, while also registering one assist. He scored three goals last season when he was on loan at Amiens.
Serhou Guirassy: Should Leicester City sign him?
Leicester City have had a bit of a stumble in the league in the second half of the season after a fine start to the 2019-20 Premier League campaign. Brendan Rodgers’ side have lost four of their last six Premier League games, which has led many pundits to claim that the Foxes need more options in all areas of the pitch.
Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy has had an impressive season, scoring 17 goals in the league so far. But he hasn’t scored in his last four appearances in all competitions, three of which they lost, drawing the other one. It’s quite clear that if Vardy doesn’t score, Leicester are likely to lose despite Kelechi Iheanacho showing flashes of promise in the little chances he has been afforded.
This perhaps highlights the need for another striking option for Rodgers. Serhou Guirassy could be a useful player, as he offers something entirely different to Vardy. While Vardy is a quick and nippy player, Guirassy is a player who is very good in the air and can hold up the play. The Frenchman has won an average of 3.9 aerials balls in the league this season, while also being fouled 2.6 times per game in the league.
He is someone who could work well with a player like Vardy, helping set up goals with flick-ons and also holding up the ball to bring his teammates into the game. The Frenchman won’t be a very expensive option and Leicester should try to do a deal to bring him in the January transfer window as Rodgers has struggled to come up with a Plan B and C when chasing games late on.
