(4-4-2) Team Of The Season Till Matchweek 12: Liverpool & Leicester City Stars Dominate

premier league

After another enthralling round of fixtures on Matchweek 12, the Premier League comes to halt this week, thanks to the international break. Liverpool continued their dominance at the top of the table while Manchester City’s loss at Anfield pushed them down to the 4th place. Chelsea and Leicester City have shown great consistency while Sheffield United find themselves in a strong position.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have continued to struggle, with star players not performing up to the mark. But who have been consistent throughout the season so far?

Premier League Team of the Season up to Matchweek 12:

Formation (4-4-2)

GK – Mat Ryan (Brighton & Hove Albion)

With 44 saves so far this season, Ryan has been in tremendous form under the bar for The Seagulls this season. It is his heroics that sees Brighton seven points away from the drop zone.

RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

The Liverpool youngster has grown into one of the best full-backs in the world. He has created nine chances, has three assists and a goal to his name and just beats Ricardo Pereira to this XI.

CB – John Lundstram (Sheffield United)

With 17 points from 12 games, The Blades have surprised everyone on their return to the top flight. Chris Wilder’s system has been effective but Lundstram, with three goals and an assist to add to his irreplaceable efforts at the back and in midfield, is the reason for their success this season.

CB – Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester City)

Fast becoming one of the best in the league, Soyuncu has hardly put a foot wrong so far this season. Alongside Evans, he is a part of the defence that has conceded the least goals in the top flight this campaign, helping him beat the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Fikayo Tomori, John Egan and Steve Cook to this side.

LB – Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

The Scot has carried his blistering form into this season as well, registering four assists and a goal. His defensive stability along with the energy he shows up and down his flank keeps Ben Chilwell out of this XI.

CM – James Maddison (Leicester City)

But another Leicester City player making this XI is James Maddison. Maddison has been the creator-in-chief for The Foxes, with four goals and two assists to his name. His attributes have only made Brendan Rodgers’ system at King Power that much more effective.

CM – Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

Completing an all attacking midfield is City’s De Bruyne. The Belgian already has nine assists to his name, has created 12 chances, more than any other player in the league and is easily the best playmaker in the game at the moment despite his mini-slump in recent weeks.

LW – Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

The Senegalese international has come up with some clutch moments for Liverpool so far this season. He has seven goals and two assists, most of which have won his side some crucial points.

RW – Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

The only real competition for Mane on the wings, Sterling, has also made an impressive start to the league campaign. Though he ended up with a blank at Anfield, Sterling has seven goals and an assist to his name and will be crucial for City’s title chances this season.

ST – Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Easily the most consistent player so far, Vardy has taken his goal scoring tally to 11 already this season. He is the top goal scorer in the league, has two assists as well and has hit a purple patch that does not seem like fading anytime soon.

ST – Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)

The saviour for Frank Lampard this season, Abraham has adjusted well to the needs of the Premier League. He has hit the back of the net with consistency and is second in the list of top goal scorers, with 10 to his name.

The likes of Ederson, Dean Henderson, Aaron Ramsdale, Kasper Schmeichel, Wilfried Ndidi, Jorginho, Fabinho, David Silva, Youri Tielemans, David Silva, Mason Mount, Mohamed Salah, Sergio Aguero and Marcus Rashford were also in with a decent shout to make it into this side.
