Arsenal will strive to get back to winning ways when they take on Wolves at the Emirates Stadium today.
Following their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend, the Gunners were eliminated from the Carabao Cup earlier this week by Liverpool.
Impliedly, Unai Emery is under a lot of pressure at the moment and he must come up with the right gameplan when his side face Nuno Espirito Santo’s troops.
Arsenal Team News
Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock and Sead Kolasinac have recovered from their knocks which they had sustained against Liverpool and will be available for selection.
However, Emery has confirmed that club captain Granit Xhaka will not feature against Wolves which was expected given the events of last weekend. Reiss Nelson is out with a knee injury.
Predicted Arsenal Lineup Vs Wolves (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Bernd Leno is set to start between the sticks as usual in the upcoming league fixture. The German custodian has been superb under the bar and will aim to continue his fine form.
David Luiz and Sokratis could start in the Arsenal lineup as the centre back pairing. It will not be an easy day on the pitch for them and they must leave no stone unturned to keep the Wolves’ attackers at bay.
Sokratis, in particular, had a decent game against Roy Hodgson’s men as apart from bagging a goal, he also mustered 2 tackles and won 4 aerial duels.
Summer signing Kieran Tierney might get the nod to start at left-back, while Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers will jostle for a place on the right.
Given Bellerin played the whole game against Liverpool, Chambers is expected to have the edge here.
Midfield
With Xhaka out of the equation, Lucas Torreira is expected to start to inject steel into the midfield setup of the north London based outfit.
Alongside the Uruguayan international, Matteo Guendouzi is a sure shot starter given his rich vein of form.
Mesut Ozil put in an impressive display against Liverpool and there will be a toss-up between him and Dani Ceballos for the no.10 role.
We are going with the Spaniard who had started the last 5 home games as Ozil might be gradually eased back into action given his lack of involvement this season.
Attack
Upfront, Alexandre Lacazette is seemingly likely to keep his place.
The Frenchman is expected to be aided by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe from the flanks.
