Liverpool could take full advantage of a disgruntled Napoli squad and sign two players – Lorenzo Insigne and Piotr Zieliński, as per reports.
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has had a major bust-up with the Napoli squad, which could see a mass exodus happen in the summer transfer window.
According to Daily Mail, Premier League leaders Liverpool could sign two of Napoli’s star players, Insigne and Zieliński.
The report states that Insigne is valued at around £55 million, with the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund also interested.
Zieliński is valued at £40 million with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in signing him. Insigne’s contract expires in 2022, while Zieliński’s expires a year earlier in 2021.
Insigne, who has come through the ranks at Napoli to become a club hero, has been booed by fans recently and is unhappy at the goings-on at the club. The 28-year-old Italian has made over 400 appearances for the Italian side in all competitions, scoring 138 goals and 87 assists.
Zieliński, on the other hand, joined Napoli from Udinese for €16 million and has made over 150 appearances for Napoli, scoring 20 and assisting 10 goals.
Would the duo make Liverpool unstoppable?
The two Napoli players that Liverpool have been linked with would certainly make them an even more formidable side than they are now.
Insigne is a quick and tricky winger, whose low centre of gravity allows him to move swiftly and bamboozle opposition defences. The experienced attacker primarily plays on the left, drifting into central areas with his stronger right foot.
Insigne can also play as an attacking midfielder or in a deeper role from the left, which uses his great work-rate to good effect. The 28-year-old has experience of playing for a top side in Europe and would offer manager Jurgen Klopp a strong alternative to Sadio Mane on the left.
Polish midfielder Zieliński can play in multiple positions, playing in central midfield, attacking midfield or even as a left-sided midfielder. The two-footed player likes to dribble with pace and energy into the opposition defence, while also having the ability to pick a pass.
The 25-year-old is a long-distance shooter, who can pop up with a few goals from midfield, while also having the ability to play long balls.
Both players would add quality to the Liverpool squad and are perhaps the kind of additions that could make Liverpool unbeatable.
