Manuel Pellegrini has made some decent signings in his time in London but he does not seem totally convinced with the squad at his disposal.
He continues to scout for potential stars who can improve the team at West Ham United and one player they are now linked with is AC Milan star Suso.
The Sun claims that the Italian outfit are not happy with his performances this season and are ready to let him leave in January. He has a release clause of £36m, which is reasonable for his potential. But is he the right man for the club?
Suso And His Numbers
Having spent over five years in the Liverpool academy, Suso failed to make an impact on English soil, making just 21 appearances for the senior side before moving on to AC Milan in 2015.
He took no time to cement a place in the first team in Italy, registering 13 goals and 17 assists in 68 league starts in the last two seasons.
Suso is widely regarded as one of the most exciting playmakers in Serie A and at just 25, is still to hit his peak as a footballer.
He represented Spain at all the junior levels and has five appearances for the senior side. However, this season, he has hardly been at his best and has registered just one assist in 709 minutes of league action.
Playing as a no.10 in a 5-3-1-2 system under Stefano Pioli, Suso is given the freedom to dictate play just outside the box and usually, he creates chances galore.
He has the ability to finish half chances and test the keeper from range while also dropping deep when his team needs numbers at the back.
The Spaniard can also play on the wing, cutting in and creating space for his teammates and at 25, has loads of room to improve.
His previous experience in England will only make him a decent signing for the Hammers.
Do They Really Need Suso?
Having conceded 14 goals in 10 league games, Pellegrini should be worried about how leaky his backline has been so far this season.
Declan Rice and Mark Noble are the only two players preferred in the first team that have the ability to provide cover for his defence and this is one area the Hammers need to improve on quickly.
They do have the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Robert Snodgrass, Pablo Fornals and Jack Wilshere all capable of adding creativity to the side in the middle of the park.
Suso does provide another dimension to this midfield but is not a player they are in desperate need for. He will cost £36m in January so the manager needs to assess if signing the AC Milan midfielder makes much of a difference to the side.
