Leicester City And Liverpool Stars Dominate The Team Of The Week From Matchday 10

leicester celebrate vs southampton

In a week that started with Leicester City’s record-breaking victory over Southampton, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Brighton were the only other teams to register wins in the Premier League.

Arsenal were held by Crystal Palace while three other games also ended in stalemates in yet another exciting week of Premier League action.

There were a number of impressive performances from players all-round the points table but who makes the team of the week? Here is the Premier League Team of The Week for Matchday 10:

Premier League team of the week for matchday 10

GK – Tim Krul (Norwich City)

Krul’s couple of penalty saves and two more point-blank saves kept the score at Carrow Road respectable, even in a loss for Norwich City.

RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

The full-back put in yet another impressive performance, creating seven chances for his side against Spurs. He almost acted as a deep-lying playmaker as Liverpool dominated Spurs at Anfield.

CB – Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Arsenal)

The Greek international scored Arsenal’s first goal, and also scored a goal late in the game that was ruled out by VAR.  He also won his battles with Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha and deserves a place in this side.

CB – Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle United)

Scored a thumping header to give his side the lead before half time and also made sure that Raul Jimenez and Jota were given no space in the final third. A complete performance from the defender that earned his side a point.

LB – Ben Chilwell (Leicester City)

Apart from a couple of assists and the goal that he registered against Southampton, Chilwell was all over the Southampton backline and completely negated their attack down his side, to help the Foxes produce a dominating performance at St Mary’s.

CM – Fabinho (Liverpool)

Arguably the best player in his role in the league at the moment, Fabinho had four tackles, three interceptions and two key passes and was crucial to Liverpool coming back from a goal down to steal all three points from Spurs at Anfield this weekend.

CM – Youri Tielemans (Leicester City)

Another Leicester City player who had a real role to play in the 9-0 victory, Tielemans got himself a goal and an assist and makes this XI ahead of Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne and Scott McTominay.

CM – Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)

Though he registered just an assist against Aston Villa, De Bruyne was arguably City’s best player on the night. He created five chances for his side and was the best attacking-midfielder on show this past weekend.

LW – Christian Pulisic (Chelsea)

Finally announcing himself to the Premier League, Pulisic scored a perfect hat-trick the helped Chelsea to a 4-2 win a Burnley. This was his best game for the Blues and he beats Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling to the XI.

RW – Ayoze Perez (Leicester City)

Finally opening his account for Leicester, Perez looked in the mood against Southampton, as picked up a hat-trick and troubled both Vestergaard and Bertrand (who was sent off). He spent most of his time in this game playing as a support striker but finds a place on the right-wing in our XI.

ST – Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Easily The Player Of The Weekend, Vardy’s movement is what made the game so easy for his side. He also registered a hat-trick and is now at the top of the goal-scoring list in the Premier League this season.
