After a run of four consecutive league defeats, Everton were back to winning ways last weekend, when they beat West Ham United at Goodison Park. They still find themselves in the bottom half of the league table and face yet another tricky fixture this weekend, when they travel to Amex Stadium to take on a Brighton side that has lost just one league game at home so far this season.
Neither team has lost a home game in this fixture in the Premier League but Everton will fancy their chances to come out of this game with all three points.
Team News
Everton have no new injury issues to worry about ahead of this game. Yerry Mina picked up a knee injury in the game against West Ham and is doubtful while Cenk Tosun is back in training and should make the matchday squad.
Seamus Coleman is back from suspension while Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin are also available..
PREDICTED EVERTON LINEUP vs BRIGHTON (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Jordan Pickford was superb in the game against the Hammers and is the undisputed no.1 for Silva this season. Mina’s likely absence should see Michael Keane partnered with Mason Holgate, who is yet to start a league game this season.
Silva would love to have Mina back to keep his backline intact for another game.
Lucas Digne has been effective at left-back and deserves to keep his place in the Everton lineup for this tie. Djibril Sidibe showed enough promise at right-back, to make his second league start for Everton this weekend but he will be pushed all the way by Coleman.
Midfield
Andre Gomes provides a different dimension to the Everton midfield. His creativity and guile will be crucial to try and break the Seagulls at home in this game.
Tom Davies had a decent outing but might have to make way for Fabian Delph who had completed 90 minutes in the 5 league games before missing the West Ham tie through injury.
Attack
Gylfi Sigurdsson came off the bench to score Everton’s second last weekend. But given Alex Iwobi’s lively display in the no.10 role, the former might have to be on bench duty today.
Theo Walcott had a decent game against West Ham and deserves to retain his place on the right flank in the Everton lineup.
Richarlison has been the most consistent player for Silva’s side this season and could lead the attack for the club for the second game running. He will look to trouble the likes of Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster at the back for Brighton.
Bernard showed his ability in front of goal, elaborately scoring Everton’s first last weekend. He will be up against Martin Montoya and will look to get the better of him on the left flank.
