Manchester United travel to the Netherlands to face AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night in the Europa League, and will hope for a bit of consistency in what has been a dire start to the season so far.

The Red Devils could only register a slender 1-0 win against Astana two weeks ago in the Europa League, and will want to put on a better performance this week.

United played their last game on Monday night, when they hosted Arsenal in the Premier League, with the match ending 1-1. Solskjaer still has quite a few injury worries ahead of the trip to Holland.

Manchester United Team News

Phil Jones will miss the game against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday as he is out with an injury that he sustained against Astana.

Paul Pogba will most likely sit out the game after getting a knock on his ankle in the draw against Arsenal.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs AZ Alkmaar

Goalkeeper

Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero will be between the sticks for Manchester United, as he did in the opening fixture of the Europa League against Astana.

Defence

Solskjaer may not want to risk Victor Lindelöf and Harry Maguire for the game, which means that Axel Tuanzebe will get a start once again, this time at centre back. He could be joined by Marcos Rojo in the Manchester United lineup.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the Arsenal game and although he may be fit to return to the side, Solskjaer may not risk him.

Diogo Dalot is a doubt, which means that Ashley Young could continue at right-back if the former is not fit. We could see Solskjaer give a start to Brandon Williams at left-back, who made his debut against Rochdale.

Midfield

We could see Fred and Nemanja Matic partner in central midfield, with Juan Mata playing ahead of them in the No. 10 role. The focus will be on Mata, and he will need to deliver as United have often looked out of ideas in the attacking half. Mata’s inclusion in the Manchester United lineup will add a it more calmness in the final third.

Attack

Jesse Lingard played in the No. 10 role in the game against Arsenal, and we could see him retain his spot in the team, but the right instead.

Marcus Rashford could play off the left for the Red Devils in Thursday night’s Europa League clash, while youngster Mason Greenwood might start up top for United.
