West Ham could have a chance to sign on-loan Leeds star: A shrewd option for Pellegrini

Tottenham Hotspur could recall summer signing Jack Clarke from Leeds United in the January transfer window as the 18-year-old has had limited opportunities at the Championship side, and send him on loan to West Ham United.

As per the Express, the Premier League club have a clause in Clarke’s loan deal which enables them to recall the youngster in January. Now, Spurs could recall him and send him on loan to a Premier League side in January, with the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace and even Everton interested in signing him.

The winger transferred to Spurs in the summer from Leeds United but was loaned back to the club. Clarke, who came through the ranks at Leeds, and made his debut for the senior team last season, made the switch to Spurs in the summer transfer window for around £10 million.

Clarke has made just two appearances this season for Leeds, both coming in the League Cup for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Should West Ham look to sign Jack Clarke in January?

Jack Clarke is a fine talent, who has the potential to be a very good Premier League player. The young winger has pace in abundance along with great dribbling ability. The teenager’s primary position is out wide on the wings on the left and right, while he is also capable of playing as a central striker. In the 2018-19 season, Clarke played 25 games, scoring twice and assisting twice.

West Ham United have a decent squad this season, with quality players all around the pitch, but they probably lack another option out on the left apart from Felipe Anderson. The likes of Andrii Yarmolenko and Michail Antonio are suited on the right flank and are at their best in their natural position.

Clarke could be a useful option, with his primary position being on the left, and drifting inside to central areas with his stronger right foot. West Ham will have little to no risk in bringing Clarke as it will be a short-term loan. An explosive and exciting talent like Clarke could add some youthful exuberance to the Hammers side, who may need cover if they are in more than one competition apart from the league.

The Hammers have been good in patches this season and while Clarke will not be a major addition as he will be on loan, he does bring that tad bit unpredictability with him which could hurt tiring teams in the league in the second half of the season.
