Attacking Star A Doubt: 4-1-4-1 Predicted Leicester City Lineup vs Newcastle United

leicester city lineup

Leicester City have made a dream start to their league campaign this season. They bounced back after their loss to Manchester United with a win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and beat Luton Town in the League Cup earlier this week. The Foxes will be confident of continuing their recent run when they face a struggling Newcastle side at home today.

The Magpies have not won any of their last four games in all competitions but did well to hold on to a point against the Seagulls at home last weekend. But they remain the last side to beat The Foxes at King Power, way back in April.

Brendan Rodgers will believe that his side has what it takes to pick up all three points from this game and here is the predicted lineup he might field for this tie:

Leicester City Team News

In early team news, The Foxes are still without the services of Matthew James who is nursing a long term injury. They could also be without James Maddison, who picked up an ankle injury in the game against Spurs and is doubtful for this game.

Predicted Leicester City lineup (4-1-4-1) vs Newcastle United

Defence:

Kasper Schmeichel has not been overworked so far this season. He has been afforded quality cover by Leicester City’s backline, which has been in decent form this season. The likes of Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans have added experience and solidity to the heart of the defence and the against a struggling Newcastle United attack, they are expected to have a comfortable night this weekend.

Ben Chilwell is slowly growing into a consistent player in his role. He will keep his place at left-back while Ricardo Pereira, who seems to have lost some form recently, should also retain his place in the Leicester City lineup.

Midfield:

Wilfried Ndidi’s work in the middle of the park often goes unnoticed by many. He is one of the most important players for the hosts. He did play over an hour against Luton Town but should be fresh enough to start on Sunday. He will play in the deepest of the midfield roles while Hamza Choudhury, who was excellent against Spurs will add some stability in a slightly advanced role.

Youri Tielemans has also been effective for Leicester City this season. He bagged a goal in the mid-week and deserves to keep his place in the Leicester City lineup.

James Maddison’s absence could see Demerai Gray get another chance this weekend. Gray also scored against Luton and will hope to put in a similar performance in this game, playing on the right flank. Young Harvey Barnes held his own against a quality side in Spurs last weekend and deserves to keep his place in the side on the left flank.

Attack:

Jamie Vardy has three goals and an assist so far this season. He will be up against the likes of Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar and needs to be at his best to test Martin Dubravka.
