Everton are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen, who has been scouted by the Toffees a few times as they look to add goals to their attack.
The Danish international was scouted last season as well by Everton scouts, as the Premier League side seek a replacement for striker Cenk Tosun.
According to Express, Everton manager Marco Silva has asked for Poulsen to be scouted further.
Everton have had a miserable start to the Premier League season, losing three of their six matches, the latest being a loss to newly-promoted Sheffield United at Goodison Park.
Poulsen has been a part of RB Leipzig since 2013, helping the side from the third division of German football to the Bundesliga. The lanky forward has scored 58 goals in 214 appearances for the German side, 19 of which came last season. His contract with RB Leipzig expires in 2022, as he signed a new contract earlier this year.
The 25-year-old has represented the Danish national team on 39 occasions since making his debut in 2014, scoring 6 goals.
Will Yussuf Poulsen be a good fit for the Toffees?
Everton have struggled in front of goal this season in the Premier League, scoring just 5 goals in 6 games, with Brazilian attacker Richarlison scoring 2 of their 5 goals.
The Toffees signed Juventus’ highly-rated striker Moise Kean in the summer, but the 19-year-old Italian striker is yet to open his goalscoring account with his new club, as he is still getting used to the pace of the league.
Marco Silva needs a proven goalscorer in his side to give competition to Kean up front. Cenk Tosun seems to no longer have a future at the club, while 22-year-old Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored just 18 goals in 99 appearances.
Poulsen will bring something different to the Everton side as he is a towering figure who is very good in the air and can cause a lot of problems to opposition defenders. The Leipzig striker won an average of 4.6 balls per game in Bundesliga last season, ending the season with 15 goals.
The Danish international is a very good finisher inside the box as well, with all of his 15 goals from last season coming from inside the penalty box. Poulsen’s aerial ability could help players like Bernard, Richarlison, and Kean run into balls flicked on by him, which could be a useful tactic to use for Silva.
