Douglas At The Back, Nketiah In Attack | Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Derby County

Leeds United moved back to the top of the Championship last weekend following a win against Barnsley thanks to two late goals.

Rivals Swansea City lost to Nottingham Forest at home, which meant that Leeds had the opportunity to take back the top spot, which they did thanks to goals from Eddie Nketiah, and Mateusz Klich late in the game.

The Whites host Derby County on Saturday and the home side will want to seek revenge for last season’s Championship playoff semi-finals, where they were knocked out by the Derby County side managed by Frank Lampard.

Let’s take a look at the possible Leeds United lineup for Saturday:

Goalkeeper

Kiko Casilla will continue in goal for Leeds United against Derby County on Saturday.

Defence

Liam Cooper and Ben White should play in the heart of defence, but we could maybe see a change in the full-back positions.

Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski – both wingers converted into full-backs, have done admirably well over the last few weeks, playing at right-back and left-back respectively. The injuries to Luke Ayling and Barry Douglas have given Dallas and Alioski the opportunity to play.

Both Douglas and Ayling took part in the Under-23 game on Monday, which Leeds won 6-0. Douglas played the first half of the game, while Ayling played the second half of the game.

We could maybe see Douglas replace Alioski in the side against Derby County, while it’s too early for Ayling to start following his injury, which means that Dallas will continue at right-back.

Midfield

In midfield, we could see Adam Forshaw return to the side after missing the Barnsley game due to injury.

He will play alongside Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips in midfield. If Forshaw is not fit enough for the game, Jamie Shackleton could continue in his central midfield role.

Attack

Eddie Nketiah could finally get a start for Leeds United in the Championship after scoring an all-important goal against Barnsley, and also scoring twice in the Under-23 side’s 6-0 win against Watford U23. Tyler Roberts too played in the Under-23 game and scored a penalty, and he might be on the Leeds bench.

Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez will start on the left and right, respectively.
