Bamford To Keep His Place: 4-1-4-1 Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Barnsley

georginio rutter

Leeds United will look to bounce back from their defeat against Swansea City in their last Championship match, when they face off against Barnsley on Sunday.

The Whites, who endured their first loss of the season against Swansea, are third in the Championship table, three points behind league leaders Swansea City.

Which players could manager Marcelo Bielsa play in the game against Barnsley? Let’s take a look at the potential Leeds United lineup against Barnsley:

Predicted Leeds United Lineup vs Barnsley

Goalkeeper

Kiko Casilla will play in goal for Leeds United against Barnsley after starting the first 6 league games of the season.

Defence

Ben White and Liam Cooper will start in defence against Barnsley. Cooper, who is the current Leeds captain, signed a new five-year deal this week, and is one of the first names on the Leeds United lineup.

At right-back, Stuart Dallas will continue to start as first-choice right-back Luke Ayling hasn’t returned to fitness yet. Dallas, like Cooper, signed a new deal earlier in the week.

At left-back, we could see Barry Douglas return to the side, replacing Ezgjan Alioski in the lineup.

Midfield

In midfield, Kalvin Phillips will feature at the base of the midfield, having started starting every game of the 2019-20 season. Phillips too signed a new five-year contract with the Whites

He will be joined in midfield with Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich, who will play ahead of the defensive midfielder in the team. Forshaw and Klich have both registered one assist this season so far in the Championship, and have started all six games in the season so far.

Attack

Patrick Bamford is Leeds’ top scorer this season, but the form of striker Eddie Nketiah could give Bielsa a selection headache. Nketiah has scored one goal in the league and two goals in the League Cup this season, while Bamford’s all four goals have come in the league.

Pablo Hernandez – who has been the team’s best player this season – will start on the right for Leeds. The 34-year-old has scored twice and assisted twice in the league so far this season.

Jack Harrison will most likely start on the left, but Bielsa could be tempted to play Helder Costa on the left against Barnsley.
